This notice explains what personal data eBoat Daily collects when you create an account, subscribe to the newsletter or contact us, why we use it, and the rights you have over it under Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are
eBoat Daily (eboatdaily.com) is the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us through the contact form or the email address shown there.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and password. Your password is stored only in a protected form by our sign-in provider; we never see it.
- Profile (you provide it): first and last name, phone number, country, city, company, what describes you best, whether you own a boat, boat type and propulsion, and the topics you are interested in.
- Your activity on the site while signed in: stories you save, stories you have read and where you stopped listening.
- Newsletter: your email address and the date you subscribed.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Visit statistics: pages viewed, time and approximate location (country/city) of visits, used only in aggregate. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it
- To run your account: sign-in, saved stories, reading progress and the audio briefing.
- To understand our readers (for example, which topics matter to boat owners or industry professionals) and improve our coverage.
- To send the newsletter, only if you ask for it.
- To reply to messages you send us.
We process account data because it is needed to provide the service you signed up for, and profile data on the basis of your explicit consent. You give that consent when you create an account; creating an account is not possible without it.
Who can see it
Your details are never shown publicly and are never sold. Only the eBoat Daily editorial team can see them, in our administration panel. Our data is hosted with Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt, Germany (EU), which acts as our processor.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and profile for as long as your account exists. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account, profile, saved stories and reading history.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you whether we process your data, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, or stop sending you the newsletter, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. You can update most of your details yourself on your profile page; for anything else, contact us and we will reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) or, in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
